I regularly use Drapers in the form of their lunch van coming round the estate to the different businesses. Unfortunately in the short time I’ve been working with my current employer (9 months or so) Drapers have very much gone downhill.
Their prices have gone up quite a bit and yet the quality keeps going down. I’ve attached a photo of a doorstep sandwich that I purchased from them (Brie, bacon and cranberry) and the photo shows pretty much the extent of the filling throughout the whole sandwich. If this was from a cheap cafe you might not mind but at £3.95 per sandwich I have to say that this is pathetic. Small pieces of bacon, wafer thin slices of brie and a small spread of cranberry sauce.
You would probably get more filling in a sandwich from Morrisons and at least they’d throw in a drink and a packet of crisps as part of a meal deal. For anything close to the same at Drapers you’re paying easily £6+ which for the quality you’re getting is no longer worth it. You cant keep lowering the quality while increasing the price and expect everyone to be happy with it.

Have loved this bakery since the mid 80s when they visited my old workplace in a Bedford van. Still have a great selection of baked goods.

Purchased two cream doughnuts this evening from Spar twyning.. £1.37 each. No weight to them or size.. didn't realise till I got them home.. absolutely not worth the asking price.. I'm totally aware of the financial climate at the moment. But come on.. appalling value!

We had ourselves a little office Friday afternoon treat and decided to give Drapers a go. We were extreemley please that we did as the doughnuts we had (chocolate and pink frosted filled with cream and jam respectively). Unlike most supermarket brands, there was actually a decent amount of filling and generous frosting.
In short: Brilliant

I was recently gifted a share of a lardy cake (or dripper if you prefer) from Drapers. It was absolutely gorgeous and took me back about 30 years when I would treat myself on a Friday with a dripper from a rival bakery in Cheltenham. The taste of the sweet sticky and crunchy coating on the bottom of the bun was just as I remembered it. Am definitely going to get myself to Tewkesbury as soon as I can and buy another one. Goes perfectly with a cup of tea or coffee as a bit of mid morning indulgence!

Great bakery, with a takeaway shop at the front. For us anyways fresh and they will make up a sandwich if there is low stock in the fridge.
Highly recommended for lunch

Popped into this super bakery shop for some bread, came out with bread, Sandwiches, Sausage rolls, cake & even a delicious coffee. The food was of excellent quality and the lady that served me was polite & helpful. I would thoroughly recommend this local business.
