Ian goes out of his way to order the books for you and is very helpful. We have been coming here for many years and enjoy supporting our local book shop. It’s nice to see an independent still in the high street in Tewkesbury.

Alison’s is an excellent bookshop, I wouldn’t go anywhere else. There is a great selection of books, cards and jigsaws and Ian is very knowledgeable and can order any books which are not already on the shelf.

A wonderful experience, as always.
I love the layout and the range of books. There is so much more upstairs as well.
Friendly staff and very helpful. Thank you.

Beautiful selection of books, puzzles and cards. All towns need a bibliophile paradise like Alison's. Very welcoming and knowledgeable booksellers

Terribly rude man at the front desk. Told me to go back upstairs and look at all the other rooms of books and then when I paid on card told me not to run away just yet. Maybe it's his sense of humour, but to my mind he may as well drive people straight to Amazon where the books will be cheaper and buyers won't be harangued into looking at more books than they want.

Alison’s bookshop is my must-visit place here in Tewkesbury. Every book lover will find exactly what they’re searching for - and a whole lot more!
Great recommendations by the friendly staff members and rooms and rooms to discover all kinds of interesting books. Plus they have a great selection of stationary and greeting cards.
If there were more starts to give, this bookshop would deserve them 5/5!

Best book shop in the three counties. Ian is brilliant, his knowledge extensive: a wonderful guide to what to read next. Apart from books there is a great selection of greeting cards. I can't go to Tewkesbury without visiting Alisons and that's pretty regularly. You won't get the service, the dry humour or the laughs in Waterstones!

I have been a customer since the opening of this fantastic shop! I can't praise it highly enough. The selection of books is extensive and the owner has a very detailed knowledge of his stock. They have also managed to find some pretty obscure tomes for me over the years! Thoroughly recommend a visit.

Great shop. Owner is always helpful. Has a dry sense of humour which may rub people the wrong way, I think it adds to the places character, something you won't find in a Waterstones.
A few reviews on here about not being helped enough in the shop. It IS NOT a large shop. If you can't find something, it's either not there, or you're looking in the wrong section, it's pretty clear what types of titles are where in the shop.
The books they choose to stock are good quality titles with unique titles available in a good balance with more mainstream titles and a good cross-section of interests. I'm sure if you asked they would order in any titles you want.
They also have a very good young reader and children's section which you won't find in a lot of other independent book shops.

Great shop and an asset to Tewkesbury. The owner has a huge knowledge of books and is very willing to help even the fussiest of readers. He has a dry sense of humour and knows his customers well. An entertaining shopping experience that you don't get on the Internet.
